How we create social value
MultiChoice Kenya continues to make a significant contribution to the Kenyan economy. In addition to direct employment, MultiChoice Kenya now works with a retail network of 6,278 electronic stores proving our products and services, 309 supermarket stores, 1,291 installers, 700+ sales force agents, as well as 16 distributors that help us deliver world class entertainment to hundreds of homes across the country, every day.
We have injected KES 3.2 billion throughout the value chain. Moreover, we have paid a total of KES 6 billion in direct taxes, while KES 7.8 billion has been paid in indirect taxes over the last 10 years.
Growing Kenya’s creative industries
We opened state-of-the-art M-Net and SuperSport studios, operating as Local Productions (Kenya) Limited in 2013, at a cost of US$10 million, which have delivered a great deal of East Africa’s best drama and actuality programming to the homes and hands of customers. In just one year, we commission or licensed scores of local shows and many feature-length films, a key driver of the success of the Riverwood film phenomenon. More than 150 Kenyan production companies supply content to DStv, employing writers, directors, editors, actors and all manner of technically-skilled individuals.
Reuben Odanga, Producer, Selina
I find myself in a [film] industry that has no template. MNET and MultiChoice understand content and are not afraid of new ideas. They have offered trainings and waled the journey with us.
My life was hard being a young girl. As I grew up, my dream was to be a business lady and have a good life. MultiChoice Kenya has played a big role in my business. Out partnership with them has enabled us to sell their equipment, collect subscriptions and train other people whom we have empowered to open their business.

Timothy Musyoki, Actor, Jela 5-Star
Growing up in the ghetto, there was a lot of crime due to poverty. I got a big break on Jela 5-star which gave me lots of confidence and MultiChoice has helped me a lot.
MultiChoice helped us to grow while enabling the [film and content] industry to run itself.
Fareed Khimani, Director, NusuNusu Productions

“With all these productions, I am able to employ the youth to learn and work towards achieving their dreams. Through my production company, MultiChoice has given so many youth jobs over the years. Thank you MultiChoice. May God bless you and may you continue to give our youth such opportunities.”
Enriching Kenyan lives
Part of our mission to enrich lives starts within the industry by nurturing tomorrow’s entertainment talent.
